The 34th Annual New England Cheer & Dance Competition
To our Cheer and Dance Family,
We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of this year’s New England Cheer and Dance Competition due to the loss of our facility. When the Covid vaccine became available, the Reggie Lewis Track Center generously volunteered to open its doors to the state and became one of their official mass vaccination sites. Unfortunately, this delayed the start of their planned renovations of the bleachers and floor of the field house, and we’ve now been informed that they will not be completed in time for our event to take place on November 6th. We have tried for the past three days to find a new facility, contacting dozens of schools and arenas but between the massive size of our competition, SATs, school dances and Covid restrictions, we have been unable to secure a location to host the tournament. We sincerely apologize to those teams who were looking forward to competing at the NECDT this year. We had also been thrilled to be back, and are crushed at this unexpected turn of events. Any team who has registered and paid will be refunded immediately.
We will not let the trophies go to waste, however! They will be re-plated for the 2022 tournament which we are excited to announce will be held in a brand new, state of the art sports center: The TRACK at New Balance which is easily accessible from the south, north and west by taking the Mass Pike Allston-Brighton exit. It is located right next to the Celtics and Bruins practice facilities. This place is huge, with tons of room for the teams to spread out, stadium seating for the spectators and is conveniently located by the Boston Landing Commuter Rail stop.
After over a year and-a-half of living in a state of tension, we’re all yearning for a return to normalcy. The New England Cheer and Dance Competition will just have to wait a while longer, but we will be back BIG next year! Please put November 5th, 2022 on your calendar now, and we’ll look forward to seeing you then.
With deepest regret-
Andy Yosinoff and Lisa Moskow
